桃井 千津子 MOMOI Chizuko

国立音楽大学音楽学部教育音楽学科卒業。アイダホ州立大学音楽学部にて社会人教育課程の一環として音楽分析、アメリカ音楽史、ソルフェージュを履修、単位取得。国立音楽大学大学院音楽研究科修士課程作曲専攻(音楽理論コース)修了。同大学博士後期課程創作研究領域にて単位取得、満期退学。
渡米中Randy A. Earles氏にアレンジ法、Clive Swansbourne氏にパフォーマンス法を師事、学内演奏会に出演、1999年帰国。これまでに山口博史氏に対位法を、森垣桂一氏、川島素晴氏に作曲を師事。
近年は子ども向けピアノ曲、合唱曲、歌曲の作曲をはじめ、楽曲分析における新概念の執筆と発表、アメリカ旋法理論の研究や翻訳などに取り組む。
また公共機関でティーチング・アーティストとしての企画・演出・編曲・演奏を行うほか、動物の諺や旋法を用いたユニークな現代作品の初演、後進の指導など幅広く活動中。
著作にカワイ出版「子どもたちへ」シリーズ、音楽之友社『20世紀音楽を分析する』(共著)など。日本現代音楽協会、日本音楽学会、日本音楽表現学会 各会員。

BIOGRAPHY
Graduated from the Department of Music Education, Faculty of Music, Kunitachi College of Music. Took individual courses for credit in music analysis, American music history, and solfège through the Department of Music at Idaho State University as part of a continuing education program. Earned a Master’s degree in Composition (Music Theory Course) from the Graduate School of Music, Kunitachi College of Music. Completed required credits for the Doctoral Program in Creative Research at the same graduate school and withdrew upon completion.
While in the U.S., studied arrangement with Randy A. Earles and performance with Clive Swansbourne, and appeared in university concerts. Returned to Japan in 1999. Previously studied counterpoint with Hiroshi Yamaguchi and composition with Keiichi Morigaki and Motoharu Kawashima.
Recent work includes composing piano pieces for children, choral works, and songs; writing and presenting new concepts in music analysis; and researching and translating American modal theory.
She also works extensively as a teaching artist, planning, directing, arranging, and performing for public institutions. Her creative activities include premiering unique contemporary compositions that incorporate animal-related proverbs and modal techniques, as well as mentoring younger musicians.
Her publications include the “To Children” series (Kawai Publishing) and Analyzing 20th Century Music (Ongaku no Tomo Sha), both co-authored. She is a member of the Japan Society for Contemporary Music, the Musicological Society of Japan, and the Japan Music Expression Society.
